Cloud DNS Management for Domains
Discover the new CloudDNS functionality for managing the DNS zone directly on domains. Configure DNS records without a hosting package and connect your domain to external services quickly and easily.

For a domain to function correctly in the online environment, it is essential that it is associated with an active DNS zone. Whether a hosting package is purchased or not, without a functional DNS zone, the domain will not know where to direct traffic and will not be usable, whether we are talking about accessing a website or using email addresses.
Over time, I have noticed a number of clients who do not want or need a hosting package to conduct their online activities. Many of them choose to redirect email services or to develop their website on a third-party platform, such as Shopify, Wix, Google, etc. In these situations, most often, only direct management of the DNS records is needed to establish the connections between the domain and the external services used.
To meet this need, we have introduced a new feature: DNS zone management directly on domains, in the form of a DNSaaS (DNS-as-a-Service), which offers flexibility and control without relying on a hosting plan.
What does DNS zone management mean and why is it important?
DNS (Domain Name System) is the technology that enables a web domain to be converted into a usable IP address on the internet. Essentially, when a user enters a domain name in the browser, the DNS system translates it into a specific IP address, thus allowing the correct website to be loaded.
Without an active DNS zone, the domain cannot direct traffic to the correct location, making it unusable. Therefore, DNS management is essential both for those who host their site on their own server and for those who use email services or external platforms. A DNSaaS service facilitates this management and makes it accessible even without advanced technical knowledge.
The newly developed functionality within the Hostico client account offers users the possibility to independently configure and modify the following types of DNS records:
- A – Links the domain to an IPv4 address, indicating which server the traffic should be directed to.
- AAAA – Similar to the A record, but for IPv6 addresses.
- CNAME – Links a subdomain to another domain, acting as an alias. The subdomain will inherit the DNS configurations of the target domain.
- MX – Defining the mail servers responsible for receiving messages.
- TXT – Used for security checks, email authentication, and other advanced configurations.
- SPF – Part of the email security policy, helps prevent spoofing.
The option is available only for domains registered through Hostico and can be activated in two ways:
- When purchasing a new domain – Customers can opt for DNS zone management at the time of order placement, for an additional cost of 5.99 EURO + VAT / year.
- By subsequent upgrade – Those who already have an active domain and wish to benefit from a DNS zone can add the functionality later from the client account, paying the price difference calculated from the time of the request until the due date.
If you own a domain with another provider and want to benefit from a DNS zone without purchasing a hosting package, we recommend that you transfer the domain to your Hostico client account and choose DNS management in the shopping cart or later, from the Domain Management interface.
The functionality of managing the DNS zone on domains falls into the category of DNSaaS (DNS-as-a-Service), being part of a broader ecosystem of Cloud solutions that we will progressively launch in the months to come. DNSaaS services represent a flexible and efficient alternative for managing DNS resources without dependence on complex infrastructures.
